This is a selection of the content extracted from my blog which is initially set up in 2009 to keep track of my process while taking Axel Kilian’s research & design course Stand Up Architecture at the Building Technology department at Delft University of Technology.
For a complete overview of this research process, you can check out the blog.
If you are interested in the incredibly delicate and ingenious structure of radiolarian skeletons, you can find the documentation of my study here.
After completing the course, we’ve decided to continue the project. In collaboration with Michela Turrin (PhD Researcher at TU Delft) and Peter von Buelow (Professor at Michigan University), we worked on a more extensive case study based on my findings during the course. The results of the first paper, “Structural DNA” have been presented at the Southwest ACSA Conference in 2009 and published in the ACSA conference proceedings. The secondary paper, “Architectural DNA” has been published in the International Journal of Architectural Computing (IJAC), Issue 02, Volume 09, 2011.
